Our Mission
The UNO Charter School Network (UCSN) seeks to redefine the culture of public education, especially in urban settings among Hispanic and African-American students. Too often, inner-city schools like these are satisfied attaining the low standards that many administrators and society have set for them.

To change this scenario, UCSN maintains structured learning environments focused on clear goals and standards. This philosophy applies not only to students, but to all faculty and staff, who are held to the highest levels of performance and accountability.

At UNO charter schools academic success is not a hope, it is an expectation.

President’s Welcome
I would like to welcome you to the website of the UNO Charter School Network!

Too often, we hear about what is NOT possible in public schools. Problems are highlighted, excuses are made, and ultimately children fail to learn. The UNO Charter School Network makes no apologies or excuses for public education. Instead, we confront the challenges before us with passion and enthusiasm for the promise of public education. Our expectations are high; in fact, they are limitless when it comes to what can be accomplished at a public school.

These expectations begin with our students, who we challenge to learn under the belief that academic achievement is not a mystery, but a goal that can be fulfilled through discipline and character. We also expect much of our administrators, who are asked to set the tone in our schools, guiding and motivating a team to accomplish what may otherwise be deemed impossible.

We expect much of our teachers, who have been selected for their commitment to a crucial profession that should be revered, not reverted to. And we expect much of our parents, who must set an example for their students by engaging in the learning process and showing that education is an all-important part of their family values.

Finally, we expect much of ourselves as a parent organization. As with all of our endeavors, we at UNO accept nothing less than excellence.

We do not feel our ambitions are too grand, but simply what our children deserve. Moreover, we have succeeded so far with these high goals set before us and are now further emboldened to realize them.

Sincerely,

Juan Rangel
President, UNO Charter School Network
CEO, United Neighborhood Organization (UNO)
