UNO Athletics leverages participation in sports to improve academic outcomes, teach valuable life lessons, engage parents and build community. Athletic programming is rooted in the UNO-CSN mission and supports UNO’s community building approach by:
Advancing UNO’s culture of high academic expectations,
Challenging students to achieve excellence both on and off the field,
Challenging parents to actively engage in the lives of their children and UNO-CSN,
Promoting positive character development, and
Building community through sports.
UNO Athletics is built on a foundation of order, discipline and high expectations. Participation in organized athletic activities builds a sense of community across the network and helps student-athletes to achieve their full potential – excellence both on and off the field – setting the standard for the network in scholarship and citizenship.
UNO Athletics also has created a line of spirit wear – custom, collegiate designs for each school. A great way to show your school pride and support the network. Students and parents can purchase spirit wear at the main office of your UNO-CSN campus.
UNO Athletics is fortunate to partner with the following organizations in support of athletic programming:
Positive Coaching Alliance
Children’s Memorial Hospital’s Institute for Sports Medicine
World Sport Chicago
University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Athletics
Girls on the Run
Chicago Youth Sports Alliance
Zero Tolerance Policy
The field/gym is an extension of the UNO-CSN school setting; consequently, all school rules apply. There is zero tolerance for unsportsmanlike behavior that disrespects the game or any student, parent, coach, staff, administrator or official. This may include, but is not limited to: profanity, fighting, intimidation, weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, gambling, graffiti, littering and the presence of pets. Failure to comply with this policy and established expectations could result in removal from the program (without refund). Participation in UNO Athletics is a privilege.
